The project is a web-application called MyWorld that allows members of a community to learn more about the events, people, and traditions of their community. The web-app emphasizes simple navigation as everything is on a single page and is made to be easy-to-use and have the community represented as a world of islands in a drifting sea.
We used React.js for the development and utilized Figma for the design process.
We ended up winning the First Penguin Prize award
Our project's vision stems from people in the Pittsbrugh area, especially students, not knowing the famous attractions of Pittsburgh like Pickle Day or the Renaissance festival as well as having people be able to voice their ideas and proposals to the local government/governing organization and be heard. One example is when a bridge along Forbes avenue in Pittsburgh collapsed due to the compromise in the structural integrity of the bridge and this was pointed several years earlier by a community member and was ignored.
